about Gayle

gayleglass crop2In 1995 I crossed paths with my own White Rabbit and followed it into Writer-land. Most of this blog is about my journey in writing, but there will be times when I open a door to a room with different contents.  Sharing that is still part of the whole adventure - sometimes what is behind those doors helps us discover a bit about ourselves and create change, like the things that Alice nibbled or drank -  helping us grow, making us small, and rediscovering normal.

Age/Status - ( Really?)  Okay.  I’m, umm, close to retirement, but still work full-time.   I have no real status  :) but I’ve been happily single for 20 years.  However, I began a romantic adventure this year (2014) so who knows??

Family – I have a daughter and a son, one grandson and one granddaughter, and one great-grandson.  The rest of the clan consists of three younger brothers, both my parents, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, …  hmmm…there sure are a lot of us. You’ll get to know them as you read my blogs.

Likes – Music, books, art, traveling, outdoors, movies, writing  - and learning.  Writing gives me the opportunity to learn about all sorts of things in the name of research…and often I discover something else I like, so this list is a work in progress.

Other things to know – I love country living - except for the maintenance.  There’s always something to clean up, mow, cut down, re-build, fix, paint, or otherwise take away from my writing time.  Sometimes the projects are of my own doing, for I constantly remodel and redecorate.

I’m an animal nut.  Yup, I stop for turtles and move them out of the road.  Right now, I am owned by three cats and two dogs.  That number varies from time to time.

In an exercise at a retreat a few years ago I was asked if I had any regrets about my life, and without thinking I blurted out “I never went to college”.   But then, I asked myself, why not?  So, now I’m pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts.  And what I’ve discovered is fodder for lots of posts!

I have a fascination for Lewis Carroll and the worlds he created.  The first poem I ever memorized was The Walrus and The Carpenter…and I can still recite it today – well, almost.  It seems that things just get ‘curiouser and curiouser’ as I get older.   As the Cheshire Cat said, “We are all mad…”.

Nice bio – and it has a familiar feel to it. I am also re-enrolled in school, trying again to finish it and find my own self curiouser and curiouser as I get older. Glad I found your blog (thanks Talya).
