Today I’m wondering what YOU do for fun. Here’s the title poem from my chapbook printed in 2006.  Enjoy!

             Having Fun

Having fun is more than just play.
Having fun is enjoying the day
     watching the squirrels run up the tree;
Reading a book, a glass of iced tea
     on the desk by your side;
     Having a slice of chocolate cream pie.

   Burn the red leaves on a crisp autumn day.
   Lay in a hammock. Smell new-cut hay.
   Walk on a trail where the deer have just run.
                These are ideas for just having fun.

Talk to your children – and grandchildren, too.
Listen to music.  Enjoy a great view.
Indulge in a hobby (my favorite thing
    is writing a poem or story), or
         SING!
Sit by the fire with a beloved pet.
Consider it all –
     Are you having fun yet?
